Permanent Denture Implants by a North York Denturist

A Comfortable Solution for Your Missing Teeth

When we meet with patients at our North York denture clinic, who struggle with the fit and feel of conventional dentures due to bone loss in the jaw or those with significant tooth loss or decay, we’re happy to offer permanent or fixed dentures as an effective solution. This option involves placing implants in the jaw that are anchored to the jaw bone. Because they’re made of titanium, they actually fuse to the living jaw bone during a process also called osseointegration — from the Latin osseous meaning “bony” and integrate meaning “to make whole.” Eventually, your dentures will be fixed in place to the implants in your jaw.

Have you lost an entire arch of your teeth? Or will you soon have your remaining teeth removed because they’re too unhealthy to save? Then you may be able to replace these teeth with fixed dentures supported by dental implants!

The Benefits of Denture Implants

There are many benefits to choosing this options:

  • They look, feel, and work just like natural teeth
  • They stay in place while you eat or talk
  • They help prevent bone loss in your jaw.

Q&A

How much do permanent dentures cost?

The cost of permanent dentures varies depending on the amount of implants used, the surgical procedures involved, and the type of restoration placed on the implants. If you contact us directly, we’ll help you get a more precise estimate.

How long will my fixed dentures last?

Most fixed dentures can last about 10-12 years if they’re properly cared for and maintained. For some people it could be less time, and for some patients they last even longer, but this depends on many factors.

Can you get dental implants if you have had dentures for years?

In most cases, it’s entirely possible to switch from removable dentures to fixed/non-removable dentures on implants.

But first, your denturist will need to assess the health of your remaining teeth and the other tissues in your mouth. Your jaw bone and gum tissue must be strong to support implants. If your jaw bone lacks the necessary density, a bone graft may be needed. Although this is a relatively simple procedure, patients typically need to wait between 4 and 6 months for their implant procedure. During that time, the new bone will fuse to the old which will reinforce it to withstand denture implants.
